Chapter 8   Bk III

DISCOVERY
The New world is found and pillaged

Lord Quetzalcoatl Ledgend
The people of the Aztec were led into the land by Lord Quetzalcoatl. The Lord had ruled all the people before us. The Lord left the Aztec to return to his own people. After many years, the Lord returned and found that his followers, who had remained in the land, had married native women. His followers had raised families and had created many towns. The Lord wished for his followers to return to their native land, but they refused to go. After some time the Lord departed, but we have always known he would return to rightfully claim us as his vassals.”

[Aztec King Montezuma, 1519 CE, addressing Hernando Cortez, believing he was Lord Quetzalcoatl returning,  delivered this speech.] [from: A legend of the Aztec, Descendants of Teotihuacan.]

This speech provided the last faint trace of the Lords’ existence on Earth. This event occurred approximately 700 years after the rescue of the Lords. Was this a promise made by a Lord who chose to remain on Earth? Or have we overestimated the round-trip travel time for the Lords to return? It does raise a lot of speculation. Was it the calculated 4,000-year cycle? Or, was it the religious cycle of the Maya, The Baktun, a 400-year cycle?
